ACADEMY HR GENERALIST JOB DESCRIPTION:
OPPORTUNITY FOR AUGUST 2026
As our Academy HR Generalist, you’ll play a central role in shaping the student and staff experience at CocoTea Beauty Academy. This isn’t your typical HR role — here, you’ll be a champion of people and culture, ensuring our academy runs smoothly while fostering a workplace that feels welcoming, safe, and motivating.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting recruitment and onboarding of instructors and staff who align with the Academy’s mission.
Assist in leading the full employment and student lifecycle.
Coordinating training, development, and wellness initiatives to support our team.
Assisting with benefits, payroll, and leave administration.
Guiding students and staff through people relations with empathy and fairness.
Ensure the academy’s HR practices align with state and federal laws and any academy accreditation requirements.
Maintain a professional image at all times to internal and external clients.
Assist with academy events (orientation, performance reviews, exit-interviews, graduations, etc.) to help create a welcoming and professional atmosphere.
Helping us celebrate milestones, build community, and strengthen our culture.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO:
Has at least 3 years of prior HR experience (Generalist, Coordinator, or Specialist level).
Understands HR laws and best practices and applies them with integrity.
Communicates with warmth, clarity, and professionalism.
Loves organization, but also thrives in a creative, people-centered environment.
Is passionate about education, growth, and creating a positive experience for staff and students.
Can balance detail-oriented tasks with big-picture thinking.
HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR, etc.) is a plus but not required.
Experience in education, beauty, or retail environments is a bonus.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Employment is contingent upon successful;

Completion of a pre-employment assessment (15-30 min)
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
SALARY: $65,000 – $68,000 annually (equivalent to $31.25/hour), commensurate with experience.
LOCATION: Owings Mills, MD 21117
SCHEDULE: Primarily on-site to ensure strong support for staff and students, with the flexibility of one remote workday per week for administrative and project-based tasks.
HOURS: Full-time, 40 hours per week. Occasional evenings or weekends may be required during academy events, orientations, or graduation ceremonies.
